High-Speed Chase Ends With Stolen Car Rolling & Catching Fire

Two Illinois residents were arrested following a dangerous multi-county police chase involving a stolen vehicle on Interstate 41 in Wisconsin. According to the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office, deputies located the stolen vehicle near the Town of Friendship after receiving information that it was traveling northbound on I-41. When deputies attempted a traffic stop, the suspects fled, leading authorities on a high-speed pursuit into Winnebago County. During the chase, deputies say the driver weaved through traffic, ran red lights, drove through a yard and ditch, and eventually entered a field near County Road Z and Clay Road. Authorities say the suspect then reversed and rammed a deputy’s squad car before another deputy forced the vehicle back into a ditch, causing it to roll over and catch fire moments after both suspects escaped the vehicle. The 23-year-old driver from Des Plaines, Illinois, and a 23-year-old passenger from Franklin Park, Illinois, were both taken into custody and booked into the Fond du Lac County Jail on multiple felony charges. No injuries were reported. The vehicle fire was extinguished by the Nekimi Fire Department, and multiple agencies assisted during the pursuit.
