Police Tase Suspect Who Crashed Stolen Box Truck During a Wild Pursuit

 

 
 Waterbury, Connecticut — On Wednesday, April 23, 2025, at approximately 11:46 a.m., the Waterbury Police Department responded to 115 South Main Street for a report of a stolen box truck. The truck, registered to a contractor performing work at the location, had been taken from the scene. Officers later located the stolen vehicle in the area of 1200 Watertown Avenue and attempted to stop it. Despite several efforts, the suspect identified as 29-year-old Dante Walton, failed to stop. The Connecticut State Police also assisted in the pursuit. During these efforts, a CSP cruiser was struck by the box truck. The vehicle continued to flee and ultimately struck a Waterbury Police Department SUV, along with several parked vehicles, in the area of 300 Grand Street before coming to a stop. Walton then fled on foot but was quickly apprehended and taken into custody by responding officers. One occupant of a parked vehicle that was struck sustained minor injuries. The Waterbury police officer whose department SUV was hit was treated and released from a local hospital for minor injuries. Walton was transported to a local hospital for evaluation and treatment of minor injuries.
