Fleeing Suspect Crashes into Police Cruisers

West Bloomfield Township, Michigan — On August 20, 2025, West Bloomfield Police Officers respond to a 911 call about a man, later identified as 58-year-old Wesley Joh, actively punching staff at the gym, including charging at staff with a metal object. Police arrived at the gym at the time Joh was leaving, and he attempted to run over an officer who was on foot and plowed into multiple patrol cars as he fled, leading officers on a high-speed pursuit. The chase ended in a nearby neighborhood after Joh crashed into more police cruisers, eventually being forced to stop. Officers had to use a Taser to remove Joh from his vehicle after he physically resisted officers before being taken into custody. One officer was taken to a hospital with minor injuries. Prosecutors later announced a nine-count felony complaint, stacking charges that include assault with intent to do great bodily harm, multiple counts of resisting police, and malicious destruction of property. Court officials set Joh’s bond at $500,000, and he remains behind bars awaiting his next court appearance in Sept. 4.
