Greensboro, North Carolina — On May 13, 2025, at approximately 11:40 p.m., a Greensboro Police officer stopped a vehicle after responding to reports of shots fired in the area of Willow Road. While at a red light at the intersection of Willow Road and Gate City Boulevard. The driver, 24-year-old Damonta Glover, was cooperative with the officer. The officer asked Glover if he had any weapons in his vehicle due to a prior stop from December of 2024, when the same officer located a concealed AR pistol in Glover's vehicle. On May 12, 2025, Glover was also arrested on a charge of carrying a concealed gun in his vehicle. Due to two previous encounters in which Glover had a concealed gun in his vehicle, and the officers were investigating a shots-fired call, the officer had reasonable suspicion and informed Glover that he would be conducting a vehicle "frisk" for weapons, and asked all occupants to exit the vehicle. Savon Johnson, 27 years of age, the right front passenger, and A`mon Moore, 20 years of age, rear right passenger, questioned the validity of the officer's request and refused to exit the car. Moore began recording officers on his cell phone and moved from one side of the vehicle to the other to further resist being removed from the vehicle to be detained.
Assisting officers eventually removed Johnson and Moore from the vehicle and placed them in handcuffs. All officers used physical restraint techniques to detain Johnson and Moore, who resisted by pushing and punching at officers. An administrative review is in process to determine that departmental policies and procedures were followed. A search of the vehicle was conducted during which time, multiple balaclava-style masks were located within the passenger compartment, one of which was on the driver's seat. Officers additionally located shell casings inside of the vehicle. In the back left seat (behind the driver's seat), an officer located a backpack that Moore was observed leaning back onto during his state of resistance. Glover was cited with the equipment violation and driving while license revoked, and released. Neither Johnson nor Moore were injured. Both were taken to the Guilford County Jail where Moore was charged with one count of carrying concealed gun, one count of resisting public officer, and two counts of assault on government official. Johnson was charged with one count of resisting public officer, and two counts of assault of government official. Their court cases are still pending
