A high-speed pursuit on I-85 ends in a dramatic PIT maneuver by an FHP trooper after a Jeep driven by 18-year-old Ryan Patrick Johnston hits speeds over 100 mph and endangers multiple drivers. The chase began when the trooper clocked the Jeep at 89 mph using LIDAR and witnessed aggressive, reckless behavior. Despite flashing lights and sirens, the driver failed to stop, prompting a decisive PIT to prevent danger in more congested Coweta County. Five occupants were detained. Johnston, who reeked of alcohol, denied drinking and refused breath, urine, and blood tests until several hours later. He was taken to jail and charged with felony fleeing. Blood evidence was later secured by warrant.
