BMW Fleeing Traffic Stop Gets Launched Off-Road Before PIT by FHP

On August 11, 2024, Trooper David Ramos of the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) attempted to stop a black BMW 330i for illegal window tint in Sumter County. The driver fled the traffic stop, leading law enforcement on a dangerous high-speed chase through multiple residential streets, blowing through stop signs and reaching speeds of 110 mph in a 35 mph zone on US Highway 301. The suspect, later identified as Marlon Dequan Underwood, drove recklessly through yards, side streets, and even went airborne off-road in an attempt to escape. The chase ended when Trooper Ramos executed a successful PIT maneuver, crashing the BMW into a tree. Underwood attempted to flee on foot but surrendered. A passenger initially complied, then fled after being told to “Run Rue, RUN!” by the driver. Underwood was arrested on scene, medically cleared, and taken to Sumter County Jail. His license had been revoked since 2019. The incident was captured on FHP dashcam video unit FHP1104.
